John Weskett  fue un comerciante inglés, se cree que nació en Leeds, en el siglo XVIII. Se le recuerda particularmente por ser el autor del libro que enlazamos, que recoge leyes antiguas marítimas y relacionadas con los seguros (Lex Rhodia, leyes de Oleron, Ordenanzas de Barcelona, Ordenanza de Florencia sobre seguros de 1512) .
Se encuentra también on line su traducción al alemán de fines de ese mismo siglo.
